WE EXIST TO
Worship God for His Glory & Witness to His Grace
CORE VALUES
In Ephesians 4:7-16, Paul explains that Christ has given the church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers for a reason. That reason is not so that they would do all the ministry of the church themselves, but so that they would equip others and partner with them to do the work together. The ministry of our church will depend upon one man and one man only: the God-man Jesus Christ. We will work together as a team and not in isolation, until all of us are built up, united, and mature in Him.
In 2 Timothy 3:10-17, the apostle Paul encourages his ministry protege, a man named Timothy. He describes the spiritual growth in God's grace that he has observed in Timothy's life. For every Christian the center of our growth is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. At MCC we believe that the Bible alone, regardless the current cultural moment, is the standard for Christian doctrine and practice. Our teaching, worship, and ministry will all be firmly rooted in the timeless truth of God's Holy Word.
In 2 Timothy 2:1-13, the apostle Paul commands Timothy to be for others what Paul has been for him. For Paul, Timothy was more than a protege. Timothy was a child in the faith. Paul took an intentional interest in Timothy's life even investing his time, thought, and energy into him. This is what making disciples is all about, and it's exactly what Jesus himself modeled and taught in the Great Commission (Matt 28:16-20). At MCC we will seek something more than many superficial relationships. We will seek to know one another honestly, graciously, and generously as we live life and do ministry together.
In John 1:1-17, we find a beautiful portrait of the center piece of all redemptive history, namely, the person and work of Jesus Christ. Redemption was planned by God the Father, is applied by the Holy Spirit, and was accomplished by God the Son. Jesus is the exact imprint of the nature of the Triune God. Through his life, death, resurrection, and ascension the glory of God is known and experienced. At MCC we are not consumers when we worship. We are beholders of the supreme worth and majesty of God revealed in Jesus Christ. With songs of praise, expository preaching, and the regular observance of the sacraments, we will worship God for His glory and enjoy His presence through our union with Christ by the power of the Spirit.
In Luke 19:10, Jesus declared that he came to seek and to save the lost. In Matthew 25:40-46, He assures his disciples that whatever they do for the least of these they also do for Him. At MCC we will ask how we can advance the cause of Christ in our world through proclaiming and demonstrating the gospel, through evangelism and works of mercy to our neighbors. We will face outward, seeking our neighbor's good whoever they are by meeting their needs however and whenever we can.
In Colossians 3:17, the apostle Paul exhorts Christians that whatever they do, in word or deed, they should do it in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the Father through Him. God has created us in His image as physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational beings. All of these aspects are important to God and should be important to us. At MCC we will seek to equip all of our members, whether male or female, young or old, married or single, to be able to apply the gospel to all of life. We will promote a culture that cherishes and celebrates human life as God intended it to be.
In Jeremiah 29:1-23, God exhorts his exiled people to seek the welfare of the city where he sent them, for in its welfare they would find their welfare. We believe that by God's work of providence we are called to a specific place and purpose. Therefore, we seek to be a conduit of God's blessing to Murrysville and the surrounding communities east of Pittsburgh. We will look to help meet the needs and celebrate the beauty found in those places. The question for us to ask is, if our church wasn't in Murrysville, would Murrysville miss us? We hope so.
